The other day when I clicked on the weather news all of Oregon was the color red, a heat advisory. The only exception was a sliver of coolness on the Central Oregon Coast. Right smack in the middle of that coolness was Waldport!
Of course we here in Waldport got warm but nothing like inland where for example Portland hit 114 degrees. That is too hot and in a big city with all its concrete and asphalt it’s miserable.
Naturally we got a ton of visitors when all the news folks told people the only place to escape the heat was “to head to the coast.
So with folks heading over here traffic was extra heavy. Newport was really jammed up but by and large people were respectable and I didn’t notice much road rage, but then again I wasn’t in a big city!
I’d say this heat wave was probably good practice for we Waldportians in that this summer with the Pandemic ending and peoples desire to get out about after being shut in for mouths, it’s going to busy here. However, we can handle busy.
Folks here can, and do, work with visitors well. They realize people live and visit here because it’s a great place to be. To make it a great place to be is to treat each other with kindness and understanding.
Everyone wants to have a good time so it’s up to all of us to give them the opportunity to do so. Have a great summer folks, enjoy the moment!
