Okay, who will be the winner?
Well if that isn’t a wide open question I don’t know what is. I mean who is going to win what? The NCAA college basketball tournament?
The Major League baseball season? The hundred yard dash in the upcoming Olympics to be held in a heavily polluted and human rights challenged China?
Nope, there will be clear cut winner in all the above but I think I’m like the rest of you; I want to know who is going to win the current Presidential Contest. Sure we have until November to decide, but right now it’s all up in the air. I was a Political Science major in college so I have a continued interest in politics but this current state of politics has me scratching my head.
The rhetoric has slipped into Soap Opera badmouthing of each candidates speeches, religious connections, and recently over some embellishing of incidents from the past.
Color, gender, and upbringings have also been flashing across the airwaves.
I don’t know how many times I’ve seen the inflammatory sound bites from at least two of the candidates as they try to discredit one another. It’s puzzling to say the least.
At stake in this upcoming election is a potential massive swing in American politics and stance which the rest of the world is watching with great interest. Domestically the whole country is focusing in on the economy and outpouring of funds to support a questionable war.
It’s fair to say that I think this election will be the most watched and will garner more participants than every before especially among the young and previously disenfranchised voters who felt they had no real say.
The candidates all have their strong points and the charisma necessary to get the popular vote and overall they seem to be focusing on the issues that most Americans are concerned about and fortunately in this country we are free to choose the candidate who fits our version of what a good President should be so perhaps the answer to my question about who will be the winner is the American people.
We now have a chance to make changes, better our standing in the eyes of other countries, and maybe adhere to Abe Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address and “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that the government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
